Oxford Street Markets - Double Rainbow all the way

The Oxford Street Markets are held every Saturday during summer at the park at the train station end on Oxford St in Leederville, WA. I held a stall there last weekend with my crochet items, but also shared the space with Double Rainbow Vintage. DR Vintage is a group of 6 girls from Perth (including me!) who collect and now sell vintage clothing and accessories. Here are some photos of our stall. We will be back at the markets in mid January with lots more stock! We named ourselves after out favourite
viral video of 2010.

oh comely magazine - keep your curiosity sacred

Very chuffed to be featured in a new London-based magazine 'oh comely'. It's just my kind of magazine! Even though it's only sold in UK shops, you can subscribe and they will ship to anywhere in the world.

"oh comely is a magazine about people and their quirks and their creativity, rather than money and what it can buy."

Yarn Bombing (with a PomPom)

I've been interested in yarn bombing for a while, if you've never heard of it before, here's a link. I've jsut made my first attempt at it today. I've joined a flickr group where I will post photos for a month to see what happens to a pompom I've placed in a tree near my house. It's a part of Natalies university project, she is in her final year at Edinburgh Napier University, and she is looking into what happens to artwork after the artist leaves. If you want to get involved and like making pompoms, here is more info.

Day One: 5th November 2010.

The William Bowler Hat

Lots of people have loved this image my friend Kristinn took of his cat William modeling the crocheted pet hat I now stock in my etsy store. I was lucky enough to have it featured in the etsy Halloween blog article. Doesn't William look just dapper in his bowler hat?

Crochet Jewellery

Here are some photos are some of the crochet jewellery I've recently made. I'm getting better at using the tiny hooks (less than 2mm)!

Well I'm back home again after a wonderful month in Spain and a short visit to London. Some of my favourite things in Spain include eating proper tapas, especially boccorones (anchovies in vinegar) and bacalao (thinly sliced salted cod), watching flamenco, mudejar and muslim architecture, and the mountain landscapes of the Pyrenees and Andalucia.
Roman aqueduct in Segovia:
Granada, Alhambra in the distance:
Real Alcazar, Seville:
Park Guell, Barcelona:

In Barcelona I was inspired by local artist and crafty lady Ann-Lena. She has a shop in El Borne selling her cute crochet art, including these mushrooms I bought. Check out her blog here.

I'm looking forward to getting back into my crochet designing, and getting lots of new items ready for summer markets and winter on etsy. Enjoy Spring!

Blog drought

I've been slack with my blog lately, so I thought I would quickly show you some photos of some of my current designs, and tell you about some of my design plans for my next range of products.

I like circle scarves at the moment, and have made a couple which are in my etsy store:
I've designed some new mittens with bows (who doesn't love bows right now?)

and a little set of nesting bowls:
New designs in the pipeline include - romantic lacy wrist cuffs, more hair accessories (think springtime daisy chains :-), cool bamboo neck scarves, and possibly some summer sun hats.

I'm on holidays in Spain as from next Friday, so I hope to post some photos from my trip over the next month. Bye for now! xox Mel

Vintage doily inspired bib necklaces

My new necklaces! I love old fashioned crochet work, like that you find on vintage doilies:

Mine aren't as intricate as those, but do incorporate some of the old crochet stitches. Here are my 2 new designs:
