Free Ribbed Crochet Cowl Pattern

I thought I would share my latest design: here is my original pattern for the ribbed crochet cowl!

Yarn - I used 1.5 skeins Moda Vera Shiver
Hook - 6.5mm

Row 1: Ch 20, tun, Dc into 3rd ch from hook, dc across to end
Rows 2 - 21: Alternate rows of flo dc and blo dc to create ribbing
Row 22: sc into first 5 dc, ch 1, sk 1, sc next 6, ch1, sk 1, sc into last 5. (this creates buttonholes)
Row 23: dc into each sc to end.
Finish off. Weave in ends. Sew 2 large buttons to match buttonhole position.

Feel free to make as many of these as you like, but please do not copy or resell the pattern as your own. Thank you!

  1. This is beautiful and SO what I need! I am sick of my scarf flapping all over the place and I was nervous about trying a circular cowl in case it ended up being loose. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi, I'm pretty new to crocheting but love the look of this cowl. I'm hoping to make one for a friend but wondered if you could give me some help first ... do you use UK or US terms? And also, what does flo and blo mean? So sorry to be a pain ... :)
