Made on the Left July 27 2014 Sneak Peek

A sneak peek at asome of the Mel P Designs winter woollies available at the Made on the Left Market on July 27. The market will be located at the State Theatre Centre in Perth from 10am - 4pm.

Free chunky flower beanie pattern

Well it has been a long time since I posted a pattern on my blog. Being a full-time primary school teacher plus studying a masters part-time consumes a lot of my time. I would love to be able to design and create more regularly, but luckily teacher get amazing school holidays so I can spend some time over the next couple of weeks adding some patterns that I have designed and getting ready for the Made on the Left Market at the end of the month.

Here is a free pattern for this great chunky beanie. I find the openness of the design is great for climates like Perth, where it gets chilly but often warms up during the day. This beanie is not too hot on the head, but snuggly just the same. I have to thank The Midnight Knitter for the hat pattern idea, but I have adapted it slightly and added a flower for extra cute.

begin with a magic circle

ch 3, 11 dc into magic circle. Tighten magic circle and join with ss to ch3.

*ch5, sk 1 dc, ss into next dc* 6 times, finish off, leaving length for sewing.

Sew flower to beanie and you are done! These hats are so fast to make and really effective. It takes me less than hour to complete a hat.

Happy crocheting! Would love to know how your hat turns out :-)
